Drawing from imagination – Jake

Hi Matt,

Going with the theme of bearded guy this week. Was inspired by looking at a lot of old master pictures. I suppose he’s a medieval scholar or a monk of some sort.

I started out with some loose gestural sketches, than thumbnails, and lots of head and hand gestures. 

Any advice appreciated as usual on improving this picture appreciated, values, composition, the works. 

Used a 4b pencil with the brush on strathmore recycled paper.
