Started this oil on canvas board, I tried this before in acrylics and water color.  It will have to dry before I can make corrections, and hope you can help me move ahead with this.  I had the idea of changing the water lighter going toward horizon and having the islands get darker, and the opposit in the foreground.  These islands are made up of lots of little grasses and have lots of detail. Not sure exactly how to deal with them. I know eventually I will need to sharpen the edges but first I want to try and improve  the composition and values. I made a black and white version on my phone and tried to get the separation of values between the water and islands.  In real life the mountains are pretty close so I didnt make them a lighter color.
