Rainer – Oil in progress

Hi Matt, 

I started a new oil painting from a reference from bryce. the right half of the body is really rough still.  Could you explain where you would use a hard/ soft/ lost edge like in the course.

i would like to keep some areas in the picture sculpted tighter and the rest loose, to save some time and keep a looser style. maybe you could give me a hint how i can decide what to pic areas that can stay rougher/ more stylised. 

Her left hand palm seems to have a strange tilt compared to the thumb. not sure where i went wrong there.
