Hi Matt,
I’m struggling a bit with feeling that I understand the concepts that you teach during the videos, but being unable to apply them once I have the pencil in my hand. I’m aware that is a matter of being inexperienced or a lack of good eye-hand coordination. I see the shadow shapes, but just can’t draw them accurately.
I went through different phases with this drawing: being content, not satisfied, correcting and being satisfied to being hesitant to correct more after not being satisfied again. The hesitation comes from being ‘scared’ that the paper can’t handle the abuse. I’ve erased quitte a bit. I believe I have to be more patient in the beginning and getting all the proportions right in an early stage. Being patient is challenging for me due to my character.
With the knowledge gained from your lessons, I do feel my drawings are getting better.
Just following your lessons and absorb as much as possible. Once I have a better grasp of the techniques I will probably have some specific questions.
For now, looking forward to your critique.
Thank you!
Bryan
