How To Draw A River – Combining References

In this class our focus will be drawing a river. We will be combing two separate pieces of photo reference to create a unique scene. Most river scenes are too complicated to draw in less than an hour. That is why I chose a fairly simple scene as our base. With our second piece of reference we will pick and choose some of the complicated areas adding them to our simple scene.

I will be working on Stratmore Toned Grey paper with a Col-erase pencil and white charcoal. I will also be using brushes and a blending stump to speed up the process.
