Painting A Simple Portrait – Underpainting

This session will focus on developing our underpainting. We’ll begin by mixing a series of value strings for the model’s hair, skin, and the background.

Once our paint is mixed, we’ll move on to completing a simple underpainting. My philosophy with underpaintings is that less is best. For this stage, I’ll be working with turpentine only—no oil.
