Portrait – Cynthia

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback on last week’s portrait. I worked on a new one this week, and I had a couple of questions.

When I’m shading, I sometimes struggle to know where to place the darkest shadows for the best effect. I remember you mentioned using them to frame the face, are there general compositional guidelines or common placements I should keep in mind beyond just observing the model?

Also, do you think I should have defined the shadow side of the face more, or is it better to keep it softer?

One last thing, I noticed there’s another student with the same first name as me. Since we’re only allowed one upload per person, would you prefer I add my last initial to make sure you can tell our submissions apart?
