Viv cast charcoal drawing

Hi Matt,
My first attempt was on a 6” x 5” area which was a good area to work with but the tooth of the mixed media paper was too obvious, so I turned it over and drew up a 5”x 4” area – bad move. I’m also finding the charcoal is dancing over the paper now and I’m making it worse the further I progress.

I’m using Derwent charcoal pencils which blunt very quickly. I can’t get the the Nitram charcoal locally.

I will restart for next week on a larger area to see if that helps. Loving your class!
