Sargent_Master Study-185ab92b

Hi Matt,

I worked again on the Sargent Self Portrait which this light situation of this  portrait reminds me of Rembrandt self-portrait where there is no reflected light on the face and the shadows look too dark,

but I was trying to analyze the reason of absence of light, maybe because there was no Artificial Light at that time when there was only candle as light source (Renaissance Era), or maybe they didn’t understand reflected light at that time! But Sargent is a modern artist, I think he was doing the Renaissance Light style ! I don’t know, I would like to know your opinion about this light situation!

Furthermore, I did the same exercise in the Value Structure Lesson where you represented the light on the ball and also did a simplified group values of the portrait just for practice purposes!
