Robbie: Drawing

Portrait

Hi Matt,

I haven’t uploaded anything for some time: I don’t get much time to draw, and when I do I tend to give up on most of my drawings when it comes to putting down tone. I would have given up on this drawing too but I decided to push through to see what would happen. I’m glad I did and I have learnt a valuable lesson: not to give up and to accept that at some stages every drawing will go through an ugly duckling stage since drawing involves constant revision.

Anyway, I think I got a likeness. Not exactly this lady’s likeness but close enough to be her sister perhaps. I did the drawing on grey paper with graphite and a white conte pencil. This too was an experiment as I have not tried using toned paper.
