This is a work-in-progress, though I’ve been working on it for a long time and progress is slow.
I’m happy with the face and some of the leaf litter on the ground. Still have some work to do on the back half of the rabbit’s body.
You can see from the reference that I’ve compressed the scene a bit. My idea was to show the rabbit in the shadowed area, framed with the light on the overhanging cedar bush and foreground. I wanted an effect a bit like the spot illustrations you see sometimes in books.
I’m not entirely happy with the cedar at the top as a framing device. I think I might have to make the overhanging cedar leaves larger and more irregular.
I’m also considering removing the rock in the foreground. I thought it helped with the composition, but now I’m not so sure.
But I’m also getting a bit tired of working on this one, so I might just call it done, and move on the the next project!
I’d appreciate your thoughts!
