Portrait – Henry

Hey Matt,

I tried a new drawing with the same reference as last week. Had a bit of trouble getting the subtly I was after in the shading, especially in the lighter range and also in the darker shadow region of her cheek. I was able to see the shadow shapes, accurately evaluate the value in my head, but wasn’t able to get it on the page. Is there a particular portrait study or series of yours you’d recommend I check out to learn more about the technique of layering and shading? I was able to watch some of the matching values videos which were helpful as well.
