I am working on a reconstruction of the early 17th century in England. I am combining text and images. The text for this image is:

Title: “Will He Come Home?”

A youthful English merchant was captured by the Barbary pirates on December 29, 1631, and kept a prisoner for seven years: “There is no calamitie can befall a man in this life which hath the least parallel to this of Captivitie.” He slept over his oar one hour in twelve and rowed under ceaseless lashing.
