I could not stay for the Q&A on Monday to show where I got to in the session, but here goes now. Due to the level of detail and short time, I adopted a ‘scorched earth’ approach and stripped out the tree on the right, whacked in the border, then jettisoned the log and the rocks, then erased the the tree on on the left because it looked too distracting and weirdly like a giant telephone pole dropped from Outer Space (you can still see the erasure ‘shadow’ on that side). So I concentrated on the essentials: sky; one mountain peak; treeline; beach strand; water; reflections. It felt like an act of cowardice not doing the tree on the right, but I would have failed miserably in the time available. I had a lot of fun battling with this one given the time constraint, the detail and the vastness and majesty of the mountains. To paraphrase you, Matt, “I hated the original composition; don’t love the final stripped down version; but don’t hate it either”. Is it worth putting in the tree on the right and the log now?
