thank you for these Saturday classes. Having a drawing class on Saturday and for once not deciding what I feel like drawing on that day works really great for me. I think it’s a great way of resetting any drawing routine I might get into throughout the week.
Here is my drawing of your drawing from memory. Mine is not from memory, it’s just drawing along. Unfortunately I started drawing using a soft oil based Cretacolor pencil, and it made my life a bit more difficult. Also, the line looks blacker in the photo than in my drawing.
I am experimenting with oil based pencils as an alternative for the col-erase I’ve been using for the past 8 years, since I’ve joined this website (where did the time go?). Lately it’s been more difficult to get the Prismacolor pencil in Europe, so I’m looking for alternatives until I can get a new batch of col-erase pencils. Personally I found that the Pitt Oil Base Faber Castell (the hard and extra-hard version) is not that bad as a temporary replacement for the col-erase, as this one can erase too. The soft pencil that I used for this drawing would probably work better for quick sketches and gesture drawing. I know many people ask about an alternative to the col-erase, so I thought I would share my experience with these.
P.S. Since there is another user on the site named Aurora (hi Aurora!), I’ve started signing as Aura (which is the short for Aurora, like Matt for Matthew :)) so that it won’t get too confusing for you :))
