I worked on my painting a couple of times. Couldn’t get as far as to the details because oil takes some time to dry . I just tried to focus on the color and the values of the skin and the dress. I did not get to do anything with the chair. I hope I can do that tomorrow. For me it is difficult to paint on such a small support. Also Ingres style is not for me to try easily. I would rather paint in a looser style, like Sorolla or Sergeant.
Anyway, I did not get the likeness, but I enjoyed the process in my painting sessions! And I hope I will get more details tomorrow.
I would like to ask you how to go about the pink red areas of the skin. Perhaps as a glaze once it is dry or the other way round. I think I have to relearn that, because I have not painted recently and I didn’t do a lot on skin tones before anyway.
Also, in my future portrait paintings I would love to learn about different more abstract backgrounds.
