figure draw, angles, larry

Hi Matt,

I finished the Begin Here series. This week I started Figure Drawing From Life. I’m pretty good at getting the angles close, but it’s the lengths that are killing me, as those errors really pile up quickly. Any tricks? Or just keep practicing duplicating random shapes? I still am confused on which way to run the shading lines. We run the shading along the long axis of the legs, but on the arms we run them diagonally?

I also want to do some portrait drawing. Is there any reason I can’t alternate weekly between the figure and portrait lessons? I assume the order of the lessons displayed on the web page mean something. So I would do the Toned Paper Portrait lesson first?
