First of all hello! Very excited about joining this community.
the subject is a picture of my dad my daughters took while we’re FaceTime chatting with him. I started reading a couple art books and watched YouTube videos during this pandemic and soon got the drawing bug. Couple weeks later this came out.
I was pretty happy with it initially as it was really only the first true drawing I’ve done. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve seen the flaws and everything else I’ve done I haven’t been able to do as well. I think because I used the Camera Lucida app to get the initial line drawing is why. Clever app but I want to do proper measurements and freehand. Fun way to start, especially with how you can manipulate photos to see different tones (posterization tool). But it’s tracing. Nothing wrong with that I just don’t want to learn that way starting out. Even at my late starting age😳
I love charcoal! I’ve messed around with about all mediums but I really connect with charcoal. This was all charcoal pencils and white charcoal pencil.
