This is my attempt at a sfumato value drawing style. I focused on edges, and did my best to lose all of them. Since this portrait was low in contrast, I thought I might be able to draw with few to no hard lines. It seemed that I spent as much time brushing with a soft cosmetic brush as I did going back and forth with the kneaded eraser and graphite. I would brush from light to shadow following the gesture of the portrait. Also, for the first time I shifted from the drawing table to the easel with a lot of stepping back, which made a huge difference seeing the subtle organic value shapes. As always, I look forward to your critiques.
