Hi Matt. This was 13hrs over just 3 days. Just in time for Taylor Swift’s new album release. Once again I mixed up different photos. These photos were so low on rendering information, it was hard.
The first question I have for you is, I would like to know if its possible to create realistic skin texture when drawing from a reference that does not provide information. Is it possible through studying enough patterns by heart or using another reference that has texture? Is skin texture even important in this painting?
My next question is, how do you relate drawing and painting? Although my paintings start with an outline, I rarely fill in tone with singular lines like a pencil. I want to start doing some drawings in Procreate like you would in pencil, Anthony Ryder style.
Digital is the only medium I’ve got by compulsion. My eyes don’t let me draw traditionally. I really want to try to emulate oil as much as possible. I’ve been getting brush ideas from the PTO portrait course. I even created the equivalent of a fan brush for blending.
