Since I started drawing ten months ago, one of the biggest problems I ran into was the human hair. I can’t seem to get the process down enough to where it looks like more than scribbles, and if it isn’t straight forget about it. Textured hair can be difficult such as beards and curly hair. I’d love to ask for tips if possible on how to accomplish such feets. Thanks!
Hi Jeff. I think it would interest you that artists like Anthony Ryder think of hair in clumps instead of individual strands. Also he does not shade them parallel to the flow of the hair. Maybe 1 or 2 strands he might indicate along the direction. Hair for the artist is more like pillows catching light rather than noodles.
Hair takes very long to shade which is normal, just requires a certain state of mind. It’s more like a leg day at the gym.
