Hi Matt. I have a lot of difficulty seeing subtle gradations and value shifts. Mainly because in near perfect gradations, it is hard to exactly nail the shapes of tones. How can I hone my eyes to see them better?

When I render a sphere, I tend to extend the same value a long way, I can’t tell if I’m going slightly lighter in the adjacent area or not. Would it be better to rely less on touch in the beginning and more on the color picker statistics like brightness and saturation, maybe even transparency?

The above reference is a drawing by an artist I’m trying to emulate. I know his game is all in the midtones, and he is a master at rendering spheres.

    Hi Arjun,
