    Hi Matt!

I was wondering if you could share some advice and benchmarks for pricing one’s art, especially when doing freelance digital work. Below are a bunch of questions going through my head when thinking about this topic.

For example should one charge a flat fee or an hourly rate? If you charge an hourly rate, how do you track/prove to the client that it really took that amount of time?

Are there any benchmark prices for different kinds of commissions (illustration vs environment design vs character design)?

Should one charge differently depending on the client? Do clients typically ask how much you charge or come to you with their own offer? Should you negotiate?

    Thank you,

Great questions Alan. They will help me too.

Thanks Arjun, I was wondering if I was the only one in the dark about these things… knowing no one who works in this field makes it really difficult to come across information like this.
