    Last week’s critique included that wonderful Leyendecker. I spent some time trying to summon the ghost of Leyendecker. Got out my Ipad and started drawing. First is a screen grab of your new model. (incredibly handsome) I used photo as a base layer.

    Then I used a fellow artist’s photo for another try.

    Then a third, from imagination…

    How do you think he painted those images? Colored ground, I think. Gouach, I think. A thousand paintings before.

    Hi Suzanna,

    From what I know he used a lot of thick paint. He also used a lot of slick medium. If you see his paintings in a gallery that are very thick with the paint in some areas.

    You can literary see all of his strokes. I would love to discuss you images in Monday’s Podcast.

    Maine is still in winter…mud season…half my family has to walk half a mile to get to the main road…but when spring hits…oh my…paradise…
