    Hi Matt,

I have in my mind several ideas for original art pieces, but I don’t feel like I’m good enough with my skills (yet) to pull them off in a way that would satisfy me. I wrote all of these ideas down in my journal so that I wouldn’t forget them. I don’t want to start these projects until I feel that I’ve reached a skill level where I can feel happy about the outcome. I thought about waiting until I’ve worked through your teaching method (Drawing the Figure From Life, Portrait and Hands, Perspective, Composition, and some specialty stuff like anatomy and fabric).

How do I know when I’m ready? Will that ever actually happen…being or feeling ready? I don’t want to get stuck in a cycle of learning forever because I never feel ready, but I also want to avoid the frustration of starting a project and not being able to bring it to a level that satisfies me.

I’m interested in your thoughts and advice on the subject.

    Chris M

    Hi Chris,

Great question, listen to tonight’s podcast. The short answer, you are never ready, you just have to start.

You need to start gaining experience. Experience will make you ready
