Over the next few months I’m going to be putting together a medical illustration portfolio and want to have a clear idea of what I want it to achieve. I’m trying to think of it as a whole and figure out what my viewer needs to get out of it. I have two target audiences, industry professionals (so I can join them on projects and gain some experience), and small medical research companies (to work on small projects as a freelancer). Presumably I would need two different portfolios. I need some advice on what each would be looking for in a portfolio so I can get work experience and small jobs. Even if you don’t know anything about the industry, I’m after general ideas about what a portfolio should give the viewer.
