    Hi Matt,

I was taught by my teacher to use straight lines to do block-in during the time when I started to learn drawing. But recently, I found many great artists (even the old masters) actually use long continuous curved lines to start their drawings (even for long-duration drawings), which can help to get more rhythms and make the drawing less stiff.

I am wondering what’s your opinion about it and which way do you prefer? I feel it’s harder to draw accurately using long continuous lines, but is that something that worth practicing and will actually make my drawing better in the long term?

Listen to tonight’s podcast. I think it will help you.
