Coffeehag: I love to do gestures drawings, partly because it’s so different from the 6 hour drawings I used to do back when I had time. I like to include as many anatomical landmarks as I can, but I’m having a really hard time finding time to study anatomy. It can take me several hours to get through a half hour video with all of the interruptions in my day. I try at a minimum to get in my 20 minutes of gesture drawing every day, but sometimes I get no other drawing done but that. I question though whether I am short-changing myself. If I only have 20 minutes to draw during the day, what is the best way to spend my time?
My suggestions would be to go from really short time to longer:
drawing 1 – 1 min
drawing 2 – 2 min
drawing 3 – 4 min
until you’ve filled that 20 min space. That way you could work on both gesture (flow) and anatomy.
Gesture drawing is great, but it would probably be wise to use the time to do some a little longer drawings. Best of luck with your practice 🙂
