    Hi Matt,

As you know I’m new to oils. I went back to this portrait a few times re your critique. Following the rule ‘fat over lean’ I added more oil to the paint in the new layer. Also, I glazed to achieved subtle colour changes. The painting has been drying for a few weeks now. It was awarded ‘pride of place’ in my living room yesterday, and I noticed a definite glare / dulling of the colours from a certain angle, consistent with the areas I worked on last. Is this something that will resolve itself over time, or do I have a problem? If the latter, how can I solve it? And how do I prevent this happening in the future?

I presume more members would be interested in this topic, hence me asking this question in the Weekly Member Message forum.

    Thanks,
    Marjan

p.s. Kudoz for your new site!
